Equitation Horses

Equitation classes are more focused and judged on the rider and how the rider performs and carries their position over a course of jumps or on the flat. Equitation is a combination of hunters and jumpers. The hunter aspect of equitation comes from the grace and control of a rider’s performance and even though the horse itself is not being judged, it can help how the rider looks. The jumper aspect of equitation comes from the similar course patterns that are performed in equitation classes, for example, roll backs and bending lines.

The children's medal class are offered to riders who jump no higher than 3’ tall. Junior medal classes are offered to riders who are competing over fences that are 3' tall. If junior rider’s jump compete higher than 3ft then they are no longer allowed to compete in children’s classes. The junior medal level is usually six inches higher, at 3'6" and some are even 3'9" tall. The same goes for the AA’s.

The most popular medals today are USEF Medal and the ASPCA Maclay, USET Talent.
